Club Security seminar: Legal search & seizure

Tuesday, August 22, 10 -11 am

You may think you know the 4th Amendment of the US Constitution (regarding illegal search and seizure), but do you know that it does not apply to your security team? This security seminar, helmed by Robert Smith of Nightclub Security Consultants, will explain why clubs need to search every guest detained for any violence on the property.

T

o start, I ask you to admit and accept that the second-most common bar or club shooting occurs after a guest is held and detained, and that guest is walked outside, normally after some sort of violent incident or aggressive and dangerous action.  Once outside, the guest is still angry, violent, or volatile.  When they are outside and released by security, the guest pulls out a gun and starts shooting.  Many of you reading this have experienced this exact event and know that my outline is factual.

I am not an attorney and have never claimed to be one.  I am, however, very good at research, interview techniques and training curriculum development.  As I developed a training solution to active shooters 15 years ago, I researched legal documents, court opinions and interviewed a few great legal minds to help me develop a real solution to the type of shootings I outlined above.

I have had extensive training on the 4th Amendment of the US Constitution and how it applies to all people in the United States.  And how it does not apply to citizens.  One important point I learned as an officer, detective and as a private liability consultant, most citizens, including club operators and employees, don’t really understand the 4th Amendment.  This lack of understanding has had deadly consequences.

If you attend this seminar at the 2023 Expo presented by my training partner and I, operators and employees will walk out with a real understanding of the 4th Amendment, how it applies to club operations and how it does not.  Additionally, they will be provided a real solution to help stop the type of active shooters I outlined in the first paragraph.  This session will use lecture and role play to help operators and employees truly understand a unique, simple, safe, and proven method to stop deadly active shootings.
